Right now the workflow of renaming requires two or more specialised apps. Would be great to be able to do it all in one renaming process. EXIF plus KI content analysis.

Hey Martin, thanks a lot for your comment!
I’d love to hear what apps you usually use together with NameQuick for renaming. Knowing which tools you mix and how you switch between them would really help me understand your workflow and make things easier for you!
Also, if you could have your perfect way of renaming with EXIF and AI in NameQuick, what would that look like?

My current workflow looks like that.
original photo out of camera renamed using “A Better Finder Rename” to something like this
20250712 133947870_NIKON Z 6_2_Leon-birthday_8165
yyyymmdd hhmmssms_camera model_event_serialnumber
instead of or in addition to the event the AI tags could fit into the filename
I also use AI photo catalog app “Excire”, which is very helpful when managing many many photos
NameQuick right now replaces the whole filename and therefore I recreate that syntax using “A Better Finder Rename” around the AI tags.
So one solution would be to implement a full EXIF feature to add those name parts or for people who already use a pre-renaming process to just put a tag placeholder into the filename which is then replaced with whatever the AI comes up with. The filenames will be pretty long but usually stay within the allowed bytes or characters. I archive my original photos like that and subsequent edited copies are free to hold names as necessary for the project
Edit: I realised that I can not send raw files directly for the renaming process. Most raw files contain a jpg preview. I tested with a small python script and open AI and extracted the jpg from the raw and let the AI use these. The tags from open AI replace then a keyword in the original filename and it works as intended. Perhaps you could implement this feature.
